Virginia Trip – Hiking Natural Bridge

Day 3

We all starting moving in the morning around 7AM with a light breakfast and packing up the cabin. We were all packed up and ready to go around 8AM, and let all the kids play together until 9AM. This let us arrive just after 10AM when the park opened at Natural Bridge State Park.

The park has a large parking lot and nice visitor center and the trailhead for the cedar creek trail to Natural Bridge is right at the visitor center. There are quite a few stairs starting out heading down and then it is a pleasant walk along a well built trail for families. Claire started out walking and did a good job down the stairs and for the first half of the walk, while Luke enjoyed his walk in the carrier.

Starting the trek down

We all enjoyed the sights and spotted the George Washington initials in the Natural Bridge. The history in the site is worth reading about with the formations occurring back in the time of Pangaea.

The area has other trails and sites that we are excited to go back for in the summer. They have a zoo and dinosaur themed park that both look like a lot of fun for kids.

After the walk we all had snacks by the car and were ready for the long trip back home. Both kids did a great job in the car for such a long trip, and we made a quick pit stop at Cracker Barrel to stretch are legs and get filled up. With full bellies we made the last quick trip home and were back home by 7PM.
